Arabic and Middle-Eastern music analysis
Maqam Analyzer is a web platform for analyzing Arabic and Middle-Eastern music in real time. It identifies the maqam (melodic mode) and the tonic of a performance using microtonal pitch detection, so intervals that fall between the notes of Western music are recognized correctly instead of being rounded away. You can let the app listen through your microphone or upload an audio file.
The platform is built for musicians, students, teachers and listeners who work with maqam traditions such as Rast, Bayati, Nahawand, Kurd, Ajam, Saba and Sikah, along with their many branch maqamat. A dedicated Turkish engine covers Turkish makam, and a library of scales, jins structures and melodic forms supports practice and study.
Beyond recognition, Maqam Analyzer includes a microtonal tuner, a song maqam lookup, pitch histograms, modulation timelines and confidence scoring, so you can see not only which maqam was detected but also how the melody moves between modes. All audio analysis runs on your device — your recordings are not uploaded for analysis.
The app is built by the Maqam Analyzer team, a small independent group of musicians and engineers passionate about making the microtonal detail of Arabic and Middle-Eastern music visible, measurable and easy to learn.
